For those wondering, this season is a stand alone story and not really a continuation of the older KC anime and movie.

Anyhows so far so good, like the more darker tone. Does seem that this anime knows what it wants to be, unlike the first one. Which tried to be slice of life, action and then at the end dramatic

Yep, this show seems more serious... welp, I saw a Shimakaze cameo... my day is complete.

I was wondering that, i watched the first season and movie years ago. Also visually this feels very high quality, surprising given last anime based in gacha, at least AL and GFL anime wasn't anywhere near to be good visually, and did poor justice to the game, but this looks promising, i still hope GFL get a second season anime with improved quality too.

I saw the first season but never bothered with the movie...my attention span is absolutely shit. Was it pretty good and did it keep Fubuki and all her sexy (not dead) friends? 😅

Tbh i barely remember the movie, same mc as first season, but dont remember much more, maybe i will watch it again.

Far as I know the problem with the AL anime was they hired a studio to do the anime and I think it was basically just up to the studio.

Of course, you can't expect too much out of these gacha game animes. Though, this anime is looking good. I know the other Azur Lane animes (besides the main one) weren't so bad but were focused on slice of life.

What its a spin off? I dont get my dose of Kongou and poi poi poi? This anime suicide squad looking pretty nifty. Sole survivor with battle hardened experience.

I miss the cheerful Kongou, addictive sound of poi and Fubuki, also Yamato.

I am guessing this is a sequel series not an actual season 2

This new season sure take long lol. I remember hearing years ago about S2. Then there no no news about it for few more year. This is entirely new cast of character. I honestly gonna miss Fubuki. I like her as mc. Also Kongou.

Man... I'm happy that the new Kancolle anime finally aired, but the tone of this episode was extremely depressing, as expected as this season is pretty much a big and actual representation of the Battle of Leyte Gulf... and considering what happened there, yeah, do not expect a happy ending here.

These are not spoilers btw, as one can easily google about the Battle of Leyte Gulf and it's also stuff that you learn at school or college, and it's one of things I love about Kancolle as it's more based in actual WWII than let's say Azur Lane.

But yeah, I'm extremely surprised by the quality of this anime, we're only getting 8 episodes total but I'm sure they're all going to be a blast... and sad AF, I better brace myself because I'm not ready to see some of my favorite Shipgirls meeting their final fate.

The Battle of Leyte Gulf was one of the largest Battle.. and I can see there are no happy ending for the Japan fleet... If they did follow the Historical order.

The Battle of Leyte Gulf was pretty much the swan song of the Imperial Japanese Navy, that tells you a lot of how sad this new Kancolle anime will be.

Indeed, I think having Yukikaze as the sole survivor was the best move, there were other survivors tho like Hibiki who became a Russian vessel, among other ships as well.

Late arrival for this season but I've been looking forward to this. If you haven't seen it before, there is a first season as well as a movie both of which aired several years back. My first impression is that this season has a much darker tone than its predecessors. I read somewhere that the game this is based off of is pretty much dead now so I'm wondering if the darker tone for this season is an indication that they're shutting the game down.

Game is far from dead, It just recently had their usual ingame events they have every seasons that added several new ship girls. It's just that it only is released in Japan and there it is still going strong.
to play outside of Japan you gotta do a few steps but it is possible,

Kancolle the warship girls love it the CGI is good.

Compared to the first season, the soundtrack is just amateur. The sort of thing a rookie makes on a one of those old DJ CD's.

I still remember the characters though. And this isnt quite a S2, but actually a standalone story. It features many of the same girls we've seen including Kongou and the Loli Destroyer Division. Sadly Fubuki has been YEETED INTO THE ABYSS...SAL.. 😭😭

Yeah she's just not featured in this at all I don't think. 😔
